In co-operation with Bombardier Transportation, the world leader in rail vehicles, we have developed a computer system for displaying multiple video surveillance streams in driver cabins.
Bombardier's system solution is essentially an on-board CCTV system that provides the train driver with real-time video information from the train. The system will contribute to a higher security level through the train drivers’ better view of doors, station platforms and emergency brakes.
System high-lights: Advanced video monitoring
The system consists of video cameras mounted on the train as well as on station platforms. The digital video signals from the cameras are sent on an Ethernet bus on the train in MPEG format. A customised version of our CC Pilot XLi on-board computer decodes the signals and displays the video images to the train driver with its 10’’4 graphical colour display with touch screen. The fact that there are multiple streams to decode and display simultaneously, puts high requirements on the display computer performance. With its 1.66 GHz Core 2 Duo-processor the new computer meets these requirements. The computer is designed to meet the environmental requirements that a train application implies in terms of EMC characteristics, vibrations etc. and also the high requirements on reliability. |
