Vehicle data access in CC Pilot XS
The on-board computer CC Pilot XS now offers full integration of the FMS-standard interface for vehicle data access via CAN. This is achieved via a FMS software component included in the operating system. The interface can be used from standard C library API or from PLC coding in the pre-installed CoDeSys soft PLC.
With the FMS interface, data from the vehicle bus is easily accessed. Information such as fuel level, fuel consumption, vehicle speed, engine rpm, coolant temperature, accelerator pedal position, engine hours and much more is readily available for use in the overall vehicle system.
From January 2002, a group of major truck manufacturers agreed to give third parties access to vehicle data. This led to the foundation of the Fleet Management System, FMS-standard. The group, today called ‘Heavy Truck Electronic Interface Group’, consist of Daimler, MAN, Scania, DAF Trucks, IVECO, Volvo Trucks and Renault Trucks. The group has designed a common interface as an open standard for vehicle data access.
The FMS interface now made available in CC Pilot XS enables OEMs and body builders to create even more powerful total machine control systems. |
