SIL-enabled display computers for Bombardier
CC Systems has in co-operation with Bombardier started the development of a new display computer, called HMI410. The exterior of the computer will be next to identical to CC Systems´ on-board computer CC Pilot XS but the interior contains a new computer core.
The unit will have a x86 kernel; a pc-module equipped with the new Atom-processor from Intel. Furthermore, the hardware design will have an architecture that enables Bombardier to implement safety functions according to SIL. SIL is becoming a common requirement in the train industry as well as in other businesses.
Initially HMI410 will have 10.4’’ and 6,5’’ screen size, touch screen, non-rotating hard disk and Windriver Linux as operating system. Both hardware and software will be designed and developed to enable at least safety level SIL1, according to the train-specific versions of the safety standards, EN 5012x.
The HMI410 is a solid platform for creating SIL-enabled display computers in other sizes and for other applications. It will complement CC Systems product platform even without considering its SIL capabilities; the powerful Atom kernel inside the sleek housing of the CC Pilot XS will be an attractive product also in applications without safety requirements. |
